    Experience
I look for a natural ability in the candidate’s discipline -a natural or intuitive way with hair or with makeup artistry.  With regard to experience level, I believe that talent is more important than experience as a Platform Artist.

    Training
Once per season there is an initial training program to establish the minimum standard of excellence. We also offer seasonal update trainings in Collections, New Curriculums and Techniques plus ongoing Performance and Presentation Skill Training.

    Travel
Seasonal travel to Los Angeles; Ongoing national and international training as agreed upon by Sebastian and the Artist.

    Platform Artist Track
Once the initial training is completed, most individuals spend at least one season as “second chair” before they can headline.  We try to pair the new Platform Artists with many different senior team members, so we can observe where their strengths and weaknesses may be.   After one season, however, I expect that any of our artists can take the lead in smaller events.  From there, it is up to the artist to find their level of effectiveness…  but the moment that anyone becomes complacent is probably the time when they need to re-evaluate their involvement with the Sebastian team.

The most important thing to remember is that the opportunity to be a “Platform Artist” is really the best opportunity to learn.  Most people miss the opportunity to connect with show attendees… in other words, enjoy the journey. This is one of the most exciting opportunities you can have in this business – appreciate how special it is.
