Joico Announces Richard Mannah As NEW International Guest Artistic Director
Joico just announced that award-winning and internationally acclaimed master stylist Richard Mannah (@richardmannah) is the brand’s new International Guest Artistic Director. This news comes after starting a fruitful friendship in 2017 after Richard helped create content and support launch events for the 2018 release of Joico’s all-new Beach Shake and Body Shake sprays, then joining them as a headliner for the successful Global Destination Education in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (not to mention a photo shoot in his home country of Australia!).
Richard, who officially started his new role as of mid-July this year and already hard at work on some top-secret projects for Joico, will be representing the brand and leveraging his vast educational background and ability to work with commercial trends as one of the brand’s leads in core education and training development. As a stylist and cutter who also has a core understanding of color palettes, he is perfectly suited to help evolve Joico’s education and training curriculums.
Richard comes to Joico with over 25 years of experience in the hair industry that includes a leadership role at Toni & Guy London and spans across three continents. When looking over the span of time, he truly has amounted a powerhouse of experience with laudable credits such as winning awards like London Hairdresser of the Year 2011-2012, being a part of the Australian F.A.M.E. Team for the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, plus working on NY and London Fashion Week projects for Vivienne Westwood, Tommy Hilfiger and Vera Wang. Richard has also been published in many industry and commercial publications—everything from Elle and British Vogue to Creative Head and The Journal.
As part of his work with Joico, he’ll also serve as a brand spokesperson appearing in more video content like tutorials and how-tos and bolstering Joico’s overall digital education across the globe. He’ll be at major stage shows for the brand, assist in developing and testing of new and innovative products and styling technologies, and will be helping to launch new products into the market place, on a global scale. He’ll also be taking part in events with trade and consumer media along with interviews, curating trend content and forecasting, as well as other editorial work that will be shared by Joico.
“Richard’s presentation at Joico Global Destination Education in January of this year, really showed us why we wanted him on our team,” shares Valerie Robinett, Sr. Director, Communications and Digital Marketing for Joico. “His was one of the most talked about seminars in a week packed with top education, but it was his way of teaching and relating to his audience that really engaged everyone—not just professionally but on a personal level too. That’s his magic. He’s able to bring you into his personal space and make you feel like it’s a one-on-one. That’s a great educator and one other pro’s can believe in. We’re so happy to welcome him to the Joico family.”
Sara Jones, Sr. VP & GM, echoes Robinett’s sentiments, “Bringing Richard on board, with his strength in educating, continues our commitment of support to the salon community. Richard is relatable, approachable and full of fresh ideas. We couldn’t be happier to have him in a leadership role in our education and artistic team.”
First up for Mannah is a special secret project already in play—he’ll be helping the first name in healthy hair release something very special that will capture interest and intrigue, both in what is being delivered and how, for professionals and their clients alike, it will be an industry first! From Mannah’s part, he’s excited about starting this new chapter in his ever-evolving career, with a company he feels puts as much passion and heart into what they do as he does. “I have had the privilege of working with the brand on international shows, photo shoots, step-by-step videos and much more the past 14 months, and I absolutely love working with the team and what the brand stands for,” shares Richard. “It’s the healthy hair company which believes in education, innovation, team-building, creativity and global growth. All these things are close to my heart and I am so excited to be part of this respectable global brand! The best is yet to come!”
