Mary’s Morning Inspiration

BTC Founder and Creative Director Mary Rector got the day started with an important and inspiring message about how in a world where people are quick to judge and put each other down, you have to let the voice inside your head—the one that says you can do it—be the loudest. She also touched on mental health and how hairdressers give so much to other people but they need to remember to take care of themselves, too. Mary then brought out Miles Adcox, Owner and CEO of Onsite, who honed in on how crucial taking care of one’s mental health really is. 

Haircutting: Dry Cutting, Bobs, Lobs, Men’s & Long Layers

After watching the haircutting segment, you should be a master at about five different on-trend cuts. Victory Barber & Brand™ Founder @mattyconrad broke down a classic men’s cut on curly hair, both @matt.swinney (using L’ANZA Healing Haircare and ARC™ Scissors) and Joico Global Artistic Director @richardmannah shared their approach to long layers, ARC™ Scissors Hair Architects @styled_by_carolynn and @chrisjones_hair taught their signature techniques for textured lobs and soft blunt bobs, respectively, and @buddywporter talked all things dry cutting using Virtue® and ARC™ Scissors.

Balayage & Blondes: Foilayage, Gray Coverage, Bright Blends and Color Melts

We had so many heavy hitters for this category that we had to split them up into TWO groups for max blonding education. First up, Kenra Professional Artistic Ambassador @lo_wheelerdavis shared her signature California blonde balayage technique, ARC™ Scissors Hair Architect @shmeggsandbaconn broke down her approach to color melting, Aloxxi Blonding Ambassador @rachelwstylist focused on platinum with some toning tips and tricks and BTC stage newbie @coloredbycaitlin, with SEVEN haircare, talked all things foils. 

Then, Joico Brand Ambassador @larisadoll shared her approach to painting bright, sun-kissed blends, Wella Professionals Hair Color Global Ambassador @brianacisneros talked tips, tricks and techniques for foilayage and Alfaparf Milano National Artistic Director @cassiskovic taught how to tackle gray coverage and balayage. 

Texture: How To Color, Cut & Style Natural Texture 

Talk about a dynamic TRIO! You asked, and we answered with a texture segment that featured three experts who covered all the basics of working with curly and naturally textured hair. Mizani Global Artistic Director @tippishorter talked cutting highly textured hair, Ulta Beauty Pro Team Member @pekelariley slayed styling and Alfaparf Milano Master Colorist @watchmyhairbounce shared how to color natural hair without disrupting its curl pattern.

Extensions: Applying, Blending, Cutting & Styling

For the first time EVER we had an extensions segment at “On Tour” and this squad of experts did not disappoint on the education! Hairtalk® Artistic Director @vickicasciola and Senior Master Educator @liciebaby talked tape-ins, Glam Seamless Director of Sales & Education @rb.nyc, along with @its.karlis.worlddd, shared their tips for color matching, Donna Bella Hair Master Educator @inbaeleeschair broke down the kera-link method and @jess.hallock demoed how to blend a halo on thick or blunt hair using HALOCOUTURE.
