1. Speed Up Your Balayage & Avoid Hollow Spots

Balayage is no doubt your clientele’s most talked about color trend—are you maximizing this service? Quicker application time means more money, so speed up the balayage process by taking denser sections, and use this technique below to avoid hollow spots. Keep scrollin’ for the steps you need to live your best balayage life!

Get The Steps 

1. Using a L’ANZA Balayage Board, apply L’ANZA Healing Color Powder Decolorizer to the top of a dense section with the flat side of the brush.
2. Then, place a Balayage Board over it to make a sandwich. Flip the hair over and paint all the spots that weren’t saturated.
3. Instead of using a cotton barrier, use velcro rollers to separate sections so the retouch area doesn’t touch the rest of the hair.

2. Enhance Curls & Natural Texture

We are HERE for curly hair and natural texture. Instead of blow-drying the cuticle smooth, Ammon recommends working with (not against!) your clients’ texture. For curly-haired girls, rope the hair around the iron opposed to traditional curling techniques—each section will expand more easily and create flexibility.

Pro Tip: When styling, use serrated hair pins because they allow you to go back in later and pancake for a lived-in vibe instead of locking the hair into place.

3. Effortlessly Cool-Girl Upstyles

Your client wants a style that will last all night long without having to brush out all the backcombing later—what do you do? Whether it’s a dramatic pony, braid or some lived-in waves, start with this lightweight volume-building technique below. 

Get The Steps 

1. Create rounded sections around the ear using a tail comb.
2. Then clip the hair out of the way.
3. Apply L’ANZA Powder Up Texturizer underneath the section, lightly dusting the product. This will build that light and lifted texture clients want without any hardcore backcombing or mess!
