Warm, Dimensional Red
When we stumbled upon this firey red transformation, it STOPPED us in our scroll. Of course we had to reach out to the Atlanta-based hairstylist and educator behind the magic, Abbey Karcz (@abbeykhair), to get all the deets! Keep scrolling to get Abbey’s must-have tips for formulating bold reds.
Check out the MAJOR transformation below!
Who is the ideal client for this look?
“Anyone with a Level 6 base (or higher) and NO box color!” Abbey told us. Also, we ALL know how fast reds fade, so Abbey recommends this color for clients who are OK visiting the salon frequently for touch-ups—plus, an appointment every 10 to 12 weeks for extension maintenance.
When it comes to at-home care, Abbey recommends a good color-conserving shampoo and instructs her clients to wash their hair with cool water.
What can clients expect from their appointment?
This transformation took five hours from start to finish. Abbey prices this service accordingly:
- Extensions installation: $300
- All-over color: $100
- Gloss: $45
- Blowout: $45
- Total = $490
What are your must-have formulation tips for reds?
“Make sure you are taking time to assess your client’s hair before deciding on a formula,” Abbey advises. Here’s why: Reds require a lot of warmth to achieve rich, bold dimension, so Abbey adds a good amount of gold into her formula for clients with less natural warmth.
