2021 Beauty Envision Award Winners Announced

Despite the challenges of the past year-and-a-half, the finalists of the 2021 Beauty Envision Awards made it to the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas to participate in the live competition hosted by the Wella Company. This year’s event was definitely different (onsite COVID-19 rapid testing was required and masks were kept on at all times), but while we missed hugging our industry pals, the hair artistry was as incredible and creative as ever. Keep reading to see the winners!

At stake this year were $5,000 Visa gift cards for winners in 11 of the 13 categories, free product from the Wella Company’s professionalstore.com, and attendance at the International TrendVision Awards Creative Retreat, including flights and hotel. Plus, the finalists made valuable connections, gained industry-wide recognition and competed in one of the industry’s most creative competitions.

Wella Company CEO Annie Young-Scrivner and Wella Company US and Americas President Sennen Pamich kicked off the evening with show host and Sr. Director Brand Education, Artists & Events, Carole Protat

“I feel so privileged to be here with all of you,” Annie said. “You inspire me…The inspiration that we’re going to see tonight is amazing. Welcome and thank you Wella family!”

The judging panel included Wella Professionals Brand Ambassador Patricia Nikole (@paintedhair), Texture vs. Race and Kolour Kulture founder Keya Neal (@keyaartistically), Wella Professionals Global Creative Artist Sonya Dove (@sonyadove) and OPI Artistic Ambassador Jenny Bui (@nailson7th).

The 33 finalists were chosen out of more than 3,600 entries, and the finalists competed on location in front of the judging panel. After the challenges our industry has endured recently, the competition was a welcome injection of energy, said Keya.

“Competitions like this keep us motivated to stay in the trends, to stay competitive, to stay on the cutting edge. It drives us to learn and grow and it stretches us. The energy and excitement keeps us from getting into a lull and getting burn out from doing the same thing over and over,” Keya said. “It’s a mental exercise—and you’re proud because you’re here and you get to say, ‘I did that.'”

It’s been an amazing experience because I get to see people in person that I’ve only been able to see online,” Patricia added. “I get to actually watch people have their creative hats on and do this work and create their art, and I get to watch it all unfold.”
