Add This Coral Hue To Your Summer Service Menu

Year after year, summer is the era of blonde™. But this season, we’re opting for something a little sweeter: This festive, glowing coral shade by Denver-based reds specialist Cameron Nichols (@cameronnichols_). Whether your client is looking for an on-trend refresh or a festival-worthy color, this shade is the one you’ll want to have locked and loaded behind the chair.

Keep reading for Cameron’s color advice, go-to products and formulas for recreating this look!

Who is the ideal client for this color?

On Cameron’s client, he only used a high lift—no bleach included. Because of this, his formula is geared toward clients who are a natural Level 7 or higher. Aside from lightening, this formula can be replicated on prelightened clients.

What does maintenance look like for this color?

To maintain pigment and brightness, Cameron recommends that his coral clients return to the salon every 10 weeks for a refresh. For at-home care, Cameron’s client uses the Kérastase Chroma Absolu line for optimal color protection between appointments.

FORMULA STEPS

Here’s how Cameron creates this glowy, summer-ready coral:

  1. Apply Formula A to any regrowth. If your client doesn’t have prelightened ends, you may need to do a balayage or color melt to blend.
  2. Apply Formula B strategically through the midlengths and ends as you would a balayage. Allow to process for 50 minutes.
  3. Rinse, then apply Formula C globally and allow to sit for 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse, then apply Formula D from the regrowth to the midlengths. Allow to process for 10 to 20 minutes.
  5. Rinse thoroughly, then apply a cocktail of Kérastase Chroma Absolu Chroma Thermique Hair Serum and Oribe® Hair Alchemy Fortifying Treatment Serum for heat protection and frizz-control. Then, blow-dry.
  6. Style as desired; Cameron curled his client’s hair using a T3 Micro 1.25 curling iron.
