1. Straight & Sleek
When we asked SexyHair Brand Ambassador and celebrity stylist Danielle Priano (@daniellepriano) what she thought would be huge for styling in 2023, she said sleek straight looks will be taking over! Andrea Henty (@andreahenty), Beverly Hills salon owner and Founder of Line One Hair, agrees that straight, glossy hair will be a common request in 2023: Obviously, if “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega and artist Camila Cabello are sporting this sleek look.

2. Slicked-Back Styling
The perfect style for any occasion: Whether you pull the rest of the hair up or leave it down, this style can be worn to walk the red carpet or to run errands alike.
The key to this look? “Pulling the hair back at the eye line to make sure it complements the face,” Gigi and Bella Hadid’s go-to stylist and Aquage Celebrity Ambassador Laura Polko (@laurapolko) told us. 3. Ribbons & Bows
This year, we’re seeing a switch from ’90s accessories to balletcore bows. Tying together a mix of braids, buns and ponies, this accessory is the perfect way to add a touch of cute to any look. Bumble and bumble Ambassador and celeb stylist Erickson Arrunategui (@erickinvisible) predicts that in 2023, clients are ready for “more glam and fun.” Cue: ribbons and bows to go with any style.

4. Glam Blowouts
The 2022 blowout craze is continuing straight into 2023 with no signs of stopping. That’s right: Lots of volume, tons of texture and all the glam you could ask for. According to Denver-based salon owner and BTC Team Member Mick Lewis (@hairbymickk), 2023 is the year for soft movement. “Pull out your round brush and put away the curling iron,” Mick told us, adding that “this is going to be huge in 2023.”
Celebrity stylist Sally Hershberger (@sallyhershberger) agrees: “This year is all about soft, low-effort hair! Hair styled with soft bends to give it that natural, wavy look will be super trendy.” To prepare for this request, here are five round brush cheats for blowouts that last.

5. ’90s Supermodel Blowouts
We’re leaving some hair trends behind this year—but one is here to stay: The ’90s supermodel blowout. With an influx of clients using rollers, hot brushes and TikTok tutorials to create Cindy Crawford-worthy volume at home, show them their blowout comes from your chair.
“’90s aesthetics are still standing strong in 2023,” Ulta Beauty Pro Team Member and Authentic Beauty Concept Brand Advocate Justin Toves-Vincilione (@happyjustin) told us, adding that, “There’s nothing more ’90s than layers!”

6. Fluffy Texture
Think of this style as the glam blowout’s eccentric, more fun cousin: It’s even more voluminous, more textured and super fluffy. Zendaya’s stylist Taije Simon (@lovetaije) predicts that, “2023 will be all about effortless hair, but with a lot of effort!” Think: curated curls, fluffy blowouts and extra silky straight hair.

7. Soft Waves
Soft waves are the effortless style we love as they appear on red carpets everywhere (AKA—we can’t stop thinking about Sadie Sink’s soft glam waves from the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards!) Moroccanoil® Global Color Ambassador Greg Gilmore (@greg_gilmore) told us that in 2023, “We will see more loose curls similar to beach waves, but more dragged out with the iron. Just enough to give straight hair a little ripple of movement.”

8. Spiky, Snatched Updos
“Fun styling is going to be a big part of what we can anticipate in this upcoming year,“ Wella Professionals Brand Ambassador Briana Cisneros (@brianacisnerois) told us. Although spiky updos were huge last year, they will continue to be a big request in 2023. Want to freshen up your technique? 10. Dramatic Side Parts
“The days of the middle part versus side part drama are over,” according to Justin Toves-Vincilione (@happyjustin). Dramatic side parts are smooth, snatched and can adorn basically any style. “This look will complement half-up half-down styles, high ponytails, glam waves and pretty much any other Instagrammable hairstyle,” Justin explained.

11. Wispy Fringe
Half of what our clients love about their inspo pics is HOW the haircut is styled. And while curtain bangs have been trending for a while, clients will opt for a more gentle, wispy look a la Jane Birkin.
Ulta Beauty Pro Team Member and Matrix Global Artistic Director Michelle O’Connor (@michelleoconnorbeauty) predicts that styles will “pay homage to the ’90s and a little bit of the ’70s—where the hair feels and looks a lot softer and a little bit more glamorous.”
Australian hairstylist Shannon Williams (@shannonjjwilliams) agrees that “wispy fringe is making a comeback,” so it’s time to freshen up your skills with four blowout tips to style this trend—click here!
