@hairandmakeupbysteph’s Crown Braid

We are so obsessed with this gorgeous crown braid by BTC bestie Stephanie Brinkerhoff (@hairandmakeupbysteph). Her secret? TRUMATCH tape-in extensions to add bulk to the hair, resulting in a perfectly imperfect updo. Want to know how she does it? Watch the how-to video below, then keep scrolling for the step-by-step breakdown.

    Loosely curl the hair, creating tighter curls around the face. Alternate the direction of the curl.

    4

    Section out the crown in a circle and clip it up. Make sure to leave enough hair around the face to create a chunky braid.

    5

    Backcomb the base and spray some texture spray. Beginning at the nape, create a Dutch braid. As you braid, only add hair to the bottom piece, not the top piece.

    6

    When you reach the ear, make sure to add most of the hair on that side of the head to avoid pulling hair in awkward directions. Continue the braid up around to the top of the head and around.

    7

    Finish off the braid, spray with texture spray and pull out the end of the braid to bulk it up and create detail. Work your way up the braid, detailing as you go.

    8

    Let down the middle section and create a regular three-strand braid, spraying with texture spray before bulking and detailing the braid.

    9

    Wrap the braid around the head and pin the ends.
