Tail Comb “Money Piece” Technique (1:42)

1. Starting a few inches back from the center hairline and working off of your client’s part line, weave a super-fine section.

Products Used

2. Then, apply L’ANZA Decolorizer to a tail comb and starting 2 to 4 inches away from the root, feather the product upward and then comb it back through the mids.

3. Separate your sections with a cotton barrier and balayage film—leaving a half-inch section between each slice—and continue this pattern to the front hairline.

4. On the sections at the hairline, comb the Decolorizer all the way to the root. If there are any clumps, use the tail and feather the product toward the root.

Get The Tips

  1. How do you eliminate a line of demarcation? Leah recommends always starting your blonding in the front for maximum saturation where it’s most important. (1:00)
  2. Use no-cling balayage film (Leah recommends Quality Touch Balayage Film) to separate sections. This helps retain the lightener’s moisture, allowing for a higher and longer lift. (3:20)
