Bridal Styling Tips + Technique Videos For Spring Brides

Anyone else feel like they’ve hit the pandemic wall and lost all their creative juices in the process? Well, bridal stylists, BTC Team Member and bridal hair specialist Christi Piontkowski (@knoxvillebridalhair) is here to get you inspired—just in time for the spring wedding season! Keep scrolling to see how she creates on-trend bridal styles for four different types of brides, plus get helpful tips for recreating each one.

1. For The Traditional Bride: Timesaving Twisted Updo

This twisted take on a traditional bridal bun is great for the days when it feels like there’s not enough time in the world to style a bride AND an entire bridal party. Why? “No heat required for this look if you are on a time crunch,” notes Christi in the caption.

Takeaway Tips For This Style:

  • The difference between this bun and a traditional bridal bun is the twists. They are a signature to this style because they create an interesting visual texture and extra security.

  • Since this style doesn’t require curling the hair first, Christi applies Moroccanoil® Dry Texture Spray throughout for light hold and texture, Moroccanoil® Smoothing Lotion to tame flyaways and add moisture to dry ends and Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray Medium at the end to set the style with a brushable hold.

2. For The Romantic Bride: High Texture Side Bun

There are two items Christi considers bridal styling kit must-haves: A bun insert and a strong hold hairspray like Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray Strong that will set the curl shape and create the texture she wants.

Takeaway Tip For This Style:

  • To create a perfect, long-lasting bun, use a bun insert as a base to pin into. “The insert makes creating an upstyle so much easier because it helps map out your shape as well as gives you extra hold and security,” explains Christi in the caption.

3. For The Boho Bride: 3D Cascading Downstyle

Recreating this style is a very visual process, which is why Christi recommends letting your eyes guide you when determining where to drape the next section. “This is a pretty visual style where you are just filling in gaps and creating visual interest,” she shares in the caption.

Takeaway Tips For This Style

  • Stacking the hair in sections is key to creating a three dimensional look, which is super important! Otherwise, the style could end up looking flat or resembling a beaver tail.

  • Smooth as you work! Christi used Moroccanoil® Mending Infusion to smooth out the ends and separate the curls before building the style, then she used it throughout to keep frizz minimal.

  • Create a base using the braid of your choice to keep the style secure! This is what each layer will be pinned to.

4. For The Modern Bride: Textured Bridal Pony

When intricate updos and bridal buns just aren’t their vibe, there’s the power pony. A casual yet classy bridal style, the added twists and texture really elevate this look beyond the everyday ponytail.

Takeaway Tip For This Style:

  • Place a tiny claw clip on the inside of the pony to give the style added fullness and volume.
