Vivid Rainbow: Dreaming of Summer
This candy confection is a must for all your color-loving clients! Bold pink tones melt beautifully with dusty coral, blue and mint to create this multi-tonal gem. The artist behind the color? That would be Jordan Glindmyer from Pinup Jordan’s Hair and Makeup in Scotia, NY who created this stunning look from faded out pastels. “My client, Heidi, is a lover of vivid colors,” notes Jordan. This was the second time she had colored Heidi’s hair—the first time was four months prior. “The color held so well that it faded out to a beautiful pastel that probably could have gone another two weeks.” Here’s her custom hue!

HOW-TO STEPS
-
1
Apply Formula A to remove the existing color and Formula B to the regrowth. Process the hair simultaneously for 20 minutes to an even Level 9/10, then rinse and blow-dry the hair. “Sometimes I will tone at the sink to eliminate any underlying tones of yellow depending on how the hair has lifted,” shares Jordan. “This particular client lifts easily so it wasn’t necessary in this case!
-
2
Apply Formula C to dry hair. Formulas D, E, F and G were applied using free-form technique in irregular sections, alternating between color melting and color blocking to add a harmonious flow between the light and dark pinks and pops of pastel blue and mint.
-
3
Process the hair for 20 minutes, rinse thoroughly with cold water and condition only.
*Formulas note: “I never measure! This is art, so I mix my VIVIDS just like I would acrylic paint,” shares Jordan. “I usually start off with one main base color and add VIVIDS, NEONS and PASTELS as necessary to deepen or dilute!”
-
4
Prep hair with Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum to smooth the hair.
-
5
Curl the hair into soft waves using a flat iron.
-
6
Start by creating a simple French braid, beginning in the top front of her hair, keeping the braid loose.
-
7
Once the braid is finished, secure with an elastic.
-
8
Loosen a few pieces of hair around her face and pull the plait a bit so it looks softer—more like Elsa from Frozen.
The texture from the curls lends a hand to the body of the style and really makes this braid look chic,” says Jordan.
