For clients looking to dip their toes into vivid shades, try this unique placement that features subtle face-framing pops of yellow and orange. Created by a cross-country duo, this look was born from the creative minds of Denver blonding specialist Sara Botsford (@sarabotsfordhair) and Massachusetts-based vivid specialist Jack Abbot (@stylejacked). Keep scrolling to learn Sara and Jack’s placement pro tips, application steps and color formulas.

BTC Editor Lauren Freas was up for a fun change. She came in with a grown-out shag by Rachel Williams (@rachelwstylist)—Rachel’s layering was accentuated by Sara and Jack’s color placement, as the layers were automatically enhanced only using paint, no shears needed.

How To Create The Perfect Peekaboo Pop:

The subtle pops of vivid are perfectly veiled by the natural base when using this placement. To accomplish this, Jack took a diagonal back section on the top of the head and left it out when painting the vivid pop. Keep scrolling to get the full step-by-step!
