Rihanna’s Met Gala Crown + Face-Framing Finger Waves

close formula

Rihanna always slays the red carpet—so it’s no surprise that when she showed up to last night’s Met Gala, her look was on theme and on point. Here’s how her hairstylist, Yusef Williams (@yusefhairnyc), turned @badgalriri into the queen of the ball. Get his inspiration and steps for the look below!

“John Galliano is the inspiration of all inspiration,” said Yusef. “For this look, I wanted to go back in time and create this Vatican-homage, but with a single finger wave to make it feel modern and more avant garde.”

Products Used

Begin with wet hair and blow-dry on high heat using the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer Professional Edition.

Once dry, use PHYTO Specific Curl Legend Spray to hydrate before pulling the hair into a pony.

Then use PHYTO Professional Workable Holding Spray and Fiber Paste and continue drying the hair 100 percent.

Next, create finger waves on either side of the face using a flat iron. Then brush out the wave using a fine-tail comb and lock the look in the shape with the Professional Workable Holding Spray.
