“This Is Us” crushing on actress Chrissy Metz’s red carpet look at the 2019 Golden Globes! We love a ‘70s vibe and this full-bodied glam hair by celeb stylist Marc Mena (@marcmena) looks beautiful with that knockout red Tanya Taylor gown. Want to recreate the look on your clients? We thought so. Scroll and snag all the styling steps and products you need, but first peep Marc’s inspiration!

Inspiration: “Chrissy wanted a ‘70s-inspired look, but we also wanted to put a modern twist on it,” shared Marc. “The inspiration came from the big hair that was shown on the SS19 runways, but polished for a red carpet moment.”

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Start with wet hair and apply Matrix Style Link Prep Volume Builder Volume Mousse from roots to ends.

2

Mix Matrix Style Link Blowout Big Queen and Matrix Style Link Prep Volume Builder Volume Mousse and emulsify, then apply from mids to ends.

3

Blow-dry the hair in 1-inch sections using a medium-sized ceramic brush.

4

Working in sections, curl and pin each section to the base to create a full-head curl set. Mist the set with Matrix Style Link Volume Fixer Hairspray.

5

Allow the curls to set for 20 minutes, then release the hair and backcomb at the root. To create volume at the crown, heavily backcomb the top away from the face and apply Matrix Style Link Volume Fixer Hairspray from temple to temple for a ‘70s vibe.

6

After the hair is directed toward the back, use a 1 1/4-inch curling iron to create a soft and modern wave. Marc finished the look by securing with a red crystal from Chrissy’s dress in the back.
