Tate McRae's Long, Brushed-Out Curls

Long, brushed-out curls with soft movement defined Tate McRae’s 2026 Met Gala look, styled by celebrity hairstylist Chad Wood (@chadwoodhair) using K18 Hair products. The finish is polished but effortless, with a loose bend through the lengths and airy volume that keeps the shape soft and touchable.

The look builds on her “Golden Melt Blonde” color by Matt Rez (@colorbymattrez), Paul Mitchell Global Color Artist and epres™ Global Celebrity Colorist and Vice President of Artist Development, with styling focused on enhancing natural texture while expanding the shape. Diffusing, alternating curling iron work and brushing out the pattern created that soft, full result.

Chad says, “Tonight’s Met Gala look was inspired by a fallen golden angel-soft, full and quietly elegant.” Scroll down for the full product lineup and his step-by-step breakdown.

STEPS

1

“We started by cleansing Tate’s hair with K18 Hair PEPTIDE PREP™ Detox Shampoo, then gently detangling using the Tangle Teezer Ultimate Detangler [Brush],” says Chad.

2

“I prepped the hair with K18 Hair HeatBounce to provide hydration and heat protection, followed by K18 Hair Molecular Repair Hair Oil to help smooth frizz and enhance shine,” he explains.

3

“From there, I diffused the hair to enhance the natural wave. Once dry, I alternated between a 1-inch and ½-inch curling iron, pulling sections out to keep the texture organic,” Chad shares. “To soften and expand the shape, I brushed through with the Tangle Teezer, creating airy volume without disrupting the wave.”

4

“To finish, I used K18 Hair AirWash™ Dry Shampoo at the root for longevity and set with a light finishing spray,” Chad says.
