'euphoria's' Dark Glam Era is About to Influence Hair Everywhere

Conversation With ‘Euphoria’s’ Hair Lead, Kim Kimble, Reveals How Season 3 Is Bringing Bold, Statement-Making Hair Back

Ever since Euphoria” season one debuted in 2019, the show has had an undeniable influence on beauty trends—launching everything from graphic liner and rhinestone makeup to bold hairstyles, wigs and hyper-stylized glam into the mainstream. Now, with season three finally here, the show’s beauty evolution is shifting once again—this time toward glamorous, “done” hair, layered cuts and cinematic styling that feels bigger, moodier and more elevated than ever before.

BTC talked exclusively with “Euphoria’s” lead hairstylist Kim Kimble (@kimblehaircare) who shared the looks this season reflect not only the characters’ personal transformations, but also larger cultural shifts happening in the world—and of course, in beauty trends.

How Today’s Social Climate Is Influencing Beauty Looks In Season 3

After years dominated by minimalism and “clean girl” beauty, Kim says season three embraces a return to self expression, glamour and visible effort in hair.

“I think that full layers, full hair and layers are back,” Kim shared. “Glamorous hair—I think [it’s making] a comeback.”

That shift reflects the current cultural mood. Between economic uncertainty, social media pressure and major societal changes in the post-covid era, beauty has become both escapism and selfcare. Kim explained that even during difficult times, people still want to feel good about themselves—and beauty remains part of that emotional experience.

“People still want to look good,” she said. “When things get a little rough or challenging… glam shopping, getting something for myself, I still see it as selfcare.”

That mentality shows up heavily in the characters themselves—especially characters like Maddy and Jules, who use beauty as identity, aspiration and self-expression. As Kim explained, even if the characters don’t necessarily have wealth, their beauty looks help them project confidence and ambition. Maddy and Jules specifically are manifesting their luxurious dream lives in the way they dress, do their makeup and style their hair.

“They find a way,” she said. “It’s part of the image of where they are.”

The result is a season filled with voluminous blowouts, polished styling, retro-inspired glam and statement hair that feels intentionally styled rather than effortless.

What Each Character’s Transformation Reveals Through Hair And Beauty

One of the reasons “Euphoria” continues to influence trends so heavily is because the hair never exists just for aesthetics—it tells the story of each character’s evolution.

Kim teased that Cassie undergoes one of the season’s biggest transformations, including major changes in both hair color and styling. Meanwhile, Maddy’s beauty aesthetic leans heavily into “film noir” glamour with dark, sexy and polished looks inspired by retro Hollywood styling.

“A lot of her styles were in that phase a little bit more,” Kim explained. “Modern retro.”

That darker glamour aesthetic is already aligning with major beauty trends taking over salons right now: rich brunette tones, sculpted waves, voluminous layers and more dramatic styling overall.

Jules, meanwhile, enters a new era of self-expression this season. Kim revealed that her long blonde wig with shorter face-framing pieces channeling the trending hime cut, came directly from wanting something that felt different and transformative rather than simply long and straight.

“I didn’t want it to just be long straight hair,” Kim said.

Even Rue’s softer, more natural texture plays into her emotional storyline, reflecting where the character is mentally throughout the season.

For Kim, every hairstyle functions as another layer of storytelling. “Hair helps tell the story,” she explained. “It kind of gives place to who they are and what their character is.”

Inside Kim Kimble’s Creative Process Behind Every Character Look

Creating the iconic beauty world of “Euphoria” starts long before cameras roll. Kim says her process begins with studying the script, understanding the emotional arc of each character and collaborating closely with the show’s director, actors, wardrobe department and makeup team.

“It always starts with collaboration,” she shared. Kim also credited “Euphoria” lead makeup artist  Donni Davy (@donni.davy) as a major creative force behind the show’s beauty identity, explaining that makeup and hair constantly inspire one another throughout the design process.

“Sometimes we simplify the hair to work with makeup,” Kim explained. “Her makeup inspires me with the hair.”

That collaborative mindset helped create some of the season’s standout beauty moments—including Maddy’s intricate floral hairstyle she wore to Cassie and Nate’s wedding, which Kim revealed became one of her favorite looks from the entire season.

The hairstyling process itself was equally extensive behind the scenes. Kim worked alongside wig specialists, barbers, stylists and colorists to create the show’s diverse range of looks, textures and transformations—including several major wigs still to come later in the season. “There’s a lot of wigs,” Kim teased.

How Euphoria Season 3 Is Already Shaping Hair Trends—And What’s Next

If seasons one and two sparked the rise of glitter makeup, fantasy color and experimental beauty, season three appears poised to usher in a new era centered around glamorous hair and elevated styling.

Kim predicts the return of:

  • Full, layered haircuts
  • Big blowouts
  • Fluffy texture
  • Retro-inspired glam
  • Long, voluminous styles
  • “Modern princess” updos
  • Film noir-inspired waves

She even hinted at a Farrah Fawcett-inspired influence beginning to emerge.

For stylists, the shift signals a move away from understated beauty and toward hair that feels intentional, cinematic and expressive again.

And if social media reactions to the first few episodes are any indication, the impact has already begun. From Maddy’s polished glamour to Cassie’s evolving bombshell aesthetic, season three is once again proving thatEuphoria” doesn’t just follow beauty trends—it creates them.
