Constance Wu went full on 1920s glam for the 2019 Met Gala. To compliment her statement gown by Marchesa, celebrity stylist Derek Yuen (@dereksyuen) styled her hair into modern finger waves accented with silver chains. Loving this look? Scroll down to get the step-by-step!

Show Notes: Constance’s hair look was inspired by her gown—a sheer dress dripping and draped in pearls and jewels. Makeup artist Molly Greenwald said the entire look was based on turning Constance into a dramatic actress from the 1920s.

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Prep the hair using amika The Wizard and amika First Base to soften strands and add hold. Comb through and rough dry using amika The Accomplice on low heat and speed.

2

Once dry, curl and set the hair towards the face using the 1-Inch barrel from amika The Chameleon 5-Barrel Curling Kit. Make sure to pin each section with a pin curl clip.

3

Once cool, brush out the hair in waves. Apply amika Haute Mess Texture Gloss to each wave and ridge, then pin with a fingerwave clip to hold in place.

4

Once the hair is set, comb down any flyaways. Use the amika Le Marcel curler to quickly press into each wave and apply accessories.
