Head Up Program Will Support 100,000 Salon Pro’s Mental Health by 2025

In 2023, L’Oréal Professionnel will launch Head Up, a cause focusing on salon professional’s mental health. On average, hairstylists spend 2,000 hours per year listening to their clients. Plus, 75 percent of clients consider going to the salon as a form of self-care. Hairstylists truly offer a service that goes beyond the physical transformation of a cut or color.

To further support the industry, L’Oréal Professionnel will provide resources and education through the Head Up program. It features four modules designed to provide stylists with tools to address anxiety, burnout or depression relating to their professional career. The modules included are:

  • Module 1: Mental Health ABC’s—Learn how to recognize stress, anxiety, depression and burnout in you and your coworkers.
  • Module 2: Self care. Learn how to create a routine that works for you.
  • Module 3: Setting Boundaries. Reduce work stress by setting boundaries with L’Oréal’s list of prepared, professional statements and tips.
  • Module 4: Summary & key takeaways.

By the end of 2023, L’Oréal Professionnel hopes to train 20,000 hair pros through Head Up’s first module; then, 100,000 hair pros trained by 2025. Head Up will be available online through L’Oréal Professionnel’s website, YouTube and on the L’Oréal learning platform, ACCESS.
