L’Oréal Professional Product Division’s The Texture Of Change Movement Aims To Make Hair Education More Inclusive

L’Oréal USA Professional Products Division has launched The Texture Of Change; a movement committed to improving access to curly, coily and wavy hair education.

To advance the movement, L’Oréal has partnered with Professional Beauty Association to form the Texture Education Collective (TEC) to influence inclusivity of all hair types and textures in cosmetology state board licensing and beauty school curriculums. Anyone can sign this petition to encourage the inclusion of textured hair training in cosmetology testing standards.

The Texture Education Collective wants all cosmetology state boards to include training on:

• Working with hair with various curl, coils and wave patterns
• All different hair strand thicknesses
• All different volumes of hair.

“For too long, the care of textured hair has been left out of the required training programs for hairstylists, leaving over 65 precent of our US population underrepresented,” shares Erica Roberson, Vice President DE&I Business Development, L’Oréal PPD. “As a leader of the professional hair industry, we must be a driver of the change for a more inclusive future,” she says.
