WATCH: French Braid Bridal Mohawk with @lalasupdos
There are three things every bride wants in her wedding-day hairstyle: a look that is timeless AND trendy, has lots of volume and lasts all night long. In this video, Lala Kaszoni (aka @lalasupdos) will show you how to achieve all three of those things.
We hosted a Facebook Live with Lala, and she gave us the how-to for this stunning French braid Mohawk—while giving TONS of amazing bridal styling tricks along the way. Watch the video below to see how she did it!
But first, let’s take a look at some of Lala’s bridal kit essentials.
- Sexy Hair Texture Lock Pro Ceramic Crimper: to build a textured and volumized foundation.
- Big Sexy Hair Powder Play Volumizing & Texturizing Powder: also used to build volume. Lala loves this powder because it comes in a pump, which makes it easy to work with. Plus, it liquefies after application, so it won’t show up in dark hair.
- Big Sexy Hair Get Layered: a dry hairspray with buildable volume. “So you can use as much as you want!” says Lala.
In the video, you’ll also pick up tips like:
- When creating a Mohawk-type look for an updo, choose a French braid as opposed to a Dutch or fishtail braid, which both tend to lay flat.
- To eliminate lines of demarcation when creating braided updos, pick up zigzag—instead of straight—sections.
- To make curls last longer, Lala picks up a section of hair, brushes it really well, then applies medium hold hairspray on the top AND the bottom of the strand. She then brushes the product into the hair again. Voila! Curls that last all night.
- When pancaking braids, you MUST pancake as you go—don’t wait until you secure the braid. Lala’s technique is to fan the braids using her nails.
