3 Tips for Transitioning High-Lift, Bright Blondes to Low-Maintenance Brondes

For the past few years, high-lift “Old Money Blonde” has dominated blonde color trends. In 2025, however, colorists are about to receive an onslaught of bronde requests. Former platinum clients are trading in the bright looks for more lived-in, natural-looking, healthy-feeling hues. To help you prepare, we’re breaking down three important hacks for transforming clients from high-maintenance blondes to low-maintenance brondes.

1. What Does “Bronde” Really Mean? Here’s How to Achieve it:

ICYMI, the term “bronde” is a blend of “blonde” and “brown.” It’s a versatile shade achieved through techniques like balayage, ombré or highlights, where lighter blonde tones are blended with deeper brown hues to create a soft, natural gradient.

Bronde is gaining traction this year because it requires less upkeep than lighter blonde shades, has a natural-looking transition and can be less damaging.

2. Here’s How to Create An Impactful Shade Without Overfoiling:

When creating a bronde shade, it’s important to remember you’re not building the blonde, you’re maintaining it. Overfoiling can result in too much blonde and not enough depth. Here are some tips for creating an impactful shade through depth and dimension:

  • Add highlights at the faceframe, around the hairline and underneath the hair for a low maintenance brightness.
  • Add a root for more depth and lowlights to add dimension.
  • Use the hair’s natural Level: Leave 50 percent of the hair at its natural Level.
  • Utilize diagonal back sections: This will create a gradient effect on your blend.
  • Go bleach-free if you have to lighten the ends. Gently tip them out using a 6-volume developer to gently brighten.

3. This 3-Step System Repairs Bonds & Restores Protein:

After the color process, this trio of products will ensure your clients’ strands are repaired and stronger to reach a new level of health. Here’s how the products work:

  • Surface® Hair Trinity Shampoo: Formulated with antioxidants and an exclusive Color Vita-Complex to cleanse and protect hair color while repairing damage and strengthening.
  • Trinity Conditioner: Detangle, add shine, volumize and protect hair color while nourishing and moisturizing the hair.
  • Trinity Protein Cream: Infused with Amaranth, a gluten-free, vegan protein that offers nine essential amino acids to prevent hair from becoming dry and dull; Babassu Oil to smooth and repair the cuticle; Cross-Link Covalent Bonding Biotechnology to bind protein to color and Rice Protein to seal the cuticle and add shine. These ingredients also supplement and restore lost protein while creating new protein bonds. To use: Apply to freshly washed, damp hair then brush and style as desired.
