“Celebrity Balayage & Ombré”
George Papanikolas
Celebrity Colorist George Papanikolas’ color transformations of Kim and Khloe Kardashian launched a lightening revolution. George pioneered the “beach-style” highlighting techniques that have evolved into today’s popular ombré and balayage techniques. He’s been singled out as one of the country’s top colorists by InStyle, Allure and People, and has worked with many of Hollywood’s hottest “It” girls—including Miranda Kerr, Megan Fox, Hayden Panettiere, Jessica Stroup and Minka Kelly. George is not only bi-coastal, working at Andy Lecompte Salon in West Hollywood and Rita Hazan in NYC, but he also regularly spends time working in Dubai. George is Matrix’s Celebrity Colorist.
“Victoria’s Secret Waves & Braids”
Sarah Potempa
In 2015, stylist Sarah Potempa had everyone talking when she styled those bombshell beachwaves at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—she and her crew created amazing, personalized looks for 47 of the world’s most beautiful Angels! An in-demand celebrity stylist, Sarah’s work has graced the pages of Vogue, Vanity Fair, Esquire and W, and she’s styled for celebrity clients like Elizabeth Olsen, Lea Michele, Evan Rachel Wood, Rose McGowan, Julianne Moore and Jake Gyllenhaal—she’s even styled the President! In 2010, Sarah founded her own tool company, the Beachwaver Co., and personally invented the cult favorite Professional Rotating Curling Iron, The Beachwaver® Pro, which has already won five awards including Allure’s Best of Beauty.
“The Shag”
Sally Hersheberger
Every decade has its iconic haircut. In the ’60s, it was Vidal’s geometric bob. In the ’70s, Farrah’s feathery layers. And without a doubt, the early ’90s belonged to Meg Ryan’s “Sally Shag”—the layered haircut that is as perky as the actress who made it famous. The artist was Sally Hershberger, a tough and talented woman who has rightly earned the title of America’s first female rock star stylist. (She’s worked with Joan Jett and Courtney Love, along with Julia Roberts, Tom Cruise and every single supermodel since the ’80s.) She’s an accomplished session stylist (including shoots with Annie Leibovitz and Helmut Newton) and a successful salon owner with three salons located in the fashion and style epicenters of L.A., New York’s Meatpacking District and Manhattan’s Upper East Side. To this day, her signature layered, disheveled, careless-looking haircuts are the standard for girls with attitude.
“Celebrity Color”
Justin Anderson
As the Vogue-anointed “Rising Star of Blonde Hollywood,” celebrity colorist Justin Anderson works with some of today’s hottest celebs like Miley Cyrus, Kelly Osbourne, Emma Roberts, Leighton Meester, Jennifer Aniston, Ireland Baldwin, Nicola Peltz, Kim Basinger, Kirsten Dunst, Kristin Cavallari, Jenna Elfman and LeAnn Rimes. After growing up in sunny SoCal, where he became captivated by the sun’s effect on hair, Justin eventually apprenticed under two of Hollywood’s leading blonde experts, Johnathan Gale of the Serge Normant Salon and Sheri Roman of the Art Luna Salon. Justin now works at the Chris McMillan Salon in Beverly Hills.
“Perfectly Imperfect Updos”
Stephanie Brinkerhoff
Virtually overnight, Stephanie Brinkerhoff went from a small town girl from Utah to a bridal superstar. At just 27 years old, she’s one of the most sought-after bridal updo stylists in the world. Better known by her social media moniker, Hair & Makeup by Steph, Stephanie’s non-traditional bridal upstyles are seen by her more than 5 million Pinterest followers. Her debut book, published by behindthechair.com, “Elegant Upstyles for Today’s Bride,” has sold more than 3,000 copies. Steph’s knack for creating on-trend looks keeps her busy with her brides-to-be and so does her work as BTC’s resident Bridal and Upstyling Expert.
“Men’s Grooming”
Matty Conrad
Matty Conrad—aka “the World’s Most Interesting Barber”—has been a top stylist in the industry for 15 years. Borrowing from both traditional barbering and modern men’s hairstyling, his own style of heritage barbering has put him at the vanguard of men’s grooming in North America. His barbershop, Victory Barber & Brand, opened in 2010 to critical acclaim and has been cited as one of Canada’s best barbershops by multiple publications. Matty, now a Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS+ Brand Ambassador, was named “Coolest Barber on Instagram” by Details and GQ magazine; in 2014, he won Canadian Men’s Hairstylist of the Year Award; and last year, he even took home the coveted Big Shot Men’s Shot of the Year Award at BTC’s #ONESHOT Hair Awards.
“Men’s Grooming”
Mark Bustos
Stylist & Founder of the #BeAwesomeToSomebody Movement Shares the Finer Points of Men’s Grooming

Regarded as one of the world’s leading long hair specialists, Richard works major fashion events, traveling the world to head shows for both New York and London Fashion week.
