WATCH: Cheats For Removing Tape-In Extensions

The Dos & Don’ts Of Removing Tape-In Extensions

If you already have a tape-in clientele, you know that the faster you can remove and reapply extensions THE BETTER—especially if you’re also doing a color or haircut. But don’t let speed sacrifice how well you get the job done. Watch expert Crystal Anderson (@crystal_anderson_hair) break down how to safely and quickly remove and reapply tape-ins. Scroll for cheats that will save time and prevent slippage!

1. Don’t Make This Common Mistake

Crystal starts removal by applying Babe Hair Extensions Oil-Based Tape-In Bond Remover to get rid of any build-up and shedded hair. But don’t make this mistake—avoid soaking the entire row at once! Here’s why: The longer the oil sits in the hair, the tackier the consistency becomes. Instead, work one weft at a time and spray the roots only so the oil doesn’t saturate the lengths.

Follow up with the Babe Hair Express Bond Remover, an alcohol-based spray that will help remove oil from the hair while you continue with the removal process.

2. Use A Baby Wipe To Prevent Slippage

Before reapplying, it’s KEY to remove old adhesive and clean the weft completely. After applying the alcohol-based remover, Crystal uses a baby wipe to remove excess oil and residue from the previous adhesive. This is important because oil residue can cause the tape to slip.

3. Try This Re-Tape Timesaving Trick

When it’s time to reapply, peel the tabs right off of the Babe Hair Tape-In Pro Replacement Tape card. Take the clean, dry wefts—one at a time—and press them directly onto the tape on the card. Continue to peel and apply the tabs directly to the tape, working up the card. This stacking technique will keep the wefts organized and save time.
