3. What do hairdressers touch more—hair or hearts?

Hairdresser Sarah Pulley‘s contribution to Riley Children’s Health in Carmel, Indiana is an inspiring one. As a mother of a former NICU baby, her experience motivated her to volunteer at the hospital’s Ronald McDonald House Family Room.

When Sarah heard the hospital wanted to provide pampering services to NICU moms, she was immediately on board. She started by donating one of her own salon chairs and contacting her distributor for free hair care products. Now, she provides pampering services for NICU parents at the hospital’s “Beauty Bar.”

It’s no secret that we spend a lot of our time not only making our client’s hair dreams come true, but also playing therapist. While we’re talking clients through their more difficult chapters, #ONESHOT 2022 winner Carlos Rojas (@colorbycarlos) is here to remind us to take care of our mental health as well.

“This is how I am taking care of my mental health,” Carlos shares. “I’m making a commitment to myself to take breaks from screentime and social media. I’m talking kindly to myself, and I’m spending as much time with my loved ones and Ava 🐩 as much as I can!” Make a list for yourself!
