Kylie Jenner’s Effortless Centered Chignon

Kylie Jenner Met Gala Centered Chignon
close formula

OK—the Met Gala is a major fashion moment for any star walking the red carpet, but for Kylie Jenner, it was her first big public appearance since becoming a mom! Undoubtedly, she was going to be one of the most photographed celebs on the red carpet…so her look had to KILL! To contrast the structure of her dress, @andrewfitzsimons created a delicate centered chignon. Here’s how he decided on the gorgeous style, plus the steps for creating it below!

“Kylie’s gorgeous Alexander Wang dress was both really interesting and beautifully simple,” Andrew shares. The moment I saw it, I knew we had to do either a ponytail or bun to keep the silhouette nice and clean. Ultimately, we decided on a centered bun towards the back of the head. Instead of making it super sleek (since the dress is almost bodycon), we decided to make it very textured and have hairs framing her face in the front. Because everything else is so structured, we wanted the hair to have an element of ease—almost as if she did it herself.”

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Give her a sleek blowout with Paul Mitchell Extra Body Sculpting Foam. “I chose this product so the blowout would have some body and not be too sleek.”

2

Add Luxury Hair Extensions to give the bun some volume.

3

Section off the very front of the hairline and pull everything else back into a bun using Paul Mitchell Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray. Leave the front hairline section out.

4

Spray the left-out hairline section with Paul Mitchell INVISIBLEWEAR Undone Texture Hairspray.

5

Pull some of the front strands back to the bun, leaving some hair still out to frame the face.

6

Pull out additional pieces from the bun and spray with Paul Mitchell Neon Sugar Tease Texture + Hold Teasing Spray.

7

To add definition to the ends, use a bit of Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum on the pieces sticking out of the bun.

8

Finish the look with Extra Body Firm Finishing Spray all over.
