Warm, Cinnamon Brunette
By Greg Gilmore
Repeat after us: This year is about WARMTH! No longer a taboo shade or unwanted hue, clients are embracing the warmth and we couldn’t agree more. Even better—this trend is PERFECT for clients with a darker starting level! So when Celebrity stylist and Moroccanoil® Global Color Ambassador Greg Gilmore (@greg_gilmore) created this look for actress Skai Jackson and we immediately reached out for the deets!
Keep scrolling for his full formula breakdown, pricing strategies and when (if at all) you should fill the hair!
Who is the ideal client for this look?
“This is the perfect look for a client wanting to give their hair a break from a more high-maintenance color,” Greg explains. “This color is a nice and soft process to achieve an on-trend color that gives the client a noticeable change,” he adds.
For clients with a starting Level 2, Greg suggests a “low and slow” method of lifting. Since, the end result is all about embracing warmth, there’s no need to blast the hair with a high volume to be ultra-blond.
How is this look priced?
Greg uses a traditional foilayage application to achieve the subtle lift and dimension. So, he suggests starting your price point with that base service. Then, take into account the client’s hair length and density and build your pricing out with those considerations. If the client is presenting as a color correction, price accordingly.
Does this look require you to fill the hair?
Since this look is all about warmth, filling shouldn’t be required for clients with darker starting levels. But, Greg does suggest applying the Moroccanoil® All In One Leave-in Conditioner which will help even-out the hair’s porosity, helping him achieve an even lift while lightening.
Remember: If your client is already blonde and looking to go darker, you will need to fill the hair with an underlying warmth shade to avoid a dull, muddy final result.
