Even if you’re a K18 Hair die-hard, you’re probably not using each product to its full potential. From pH-balancing technology to mineral stripping and chelating formulas, the brand has special processes (and stylist-loved cocktails!) that we’re here to make SURE you know.

Take your product lineup to the next level and scroll through these must-know tips from stylists we trust…

1. Repair Clients’ Hair DURING A Color Service

We all have clients who neglect haircare at home. As frustrating as it is. you can backtrack damage but you’ll need a full (but fast!) prep routine. BTC Team Member Kristen O’Donnell (@kristen_o_beauty) shares her full breakdown on using K18 products in tandem throughout her client’s color appointment.

Try this full hair prep, color and treatment process:

  • Begin by spraying K18 Peptide Prep™ Pro Chelating Hair Complex on your client’s dry hair. This reduces metal and mineral buildup and sits for only four minutes.
  • Next, spray Pro Molecular Repair Hair Mist and wait four minutes—use this time to mix your color formula.
  • Proceed through your color and lightening services as usual.
  • At the bowl, shampoo using Peptide Prep™ pH Maintenance Shampoo to ensure your client’s hair is balanced and not holding onto any product.
  • SKIP conditioner!
  • Before applying toner, use Pro Molecular Repair Hair Mask (no rinsing!) and tone right on top of it.
  • Last, apply Pro Molecular Repair Mask again on towel-dried hair before blow-drying.

2. Two-Step Insurance Plan For A Healthy Silk Press

Hair educator Kendra Alia (@iamkendraalia) shares her quick tip to protect her client’s hair before and during a silk press.

Here’s Kendra’s silk press prep:

  1. Detox the client’s hair while shampooing using Peptide Prep™ Detox Shampoo. This shampoo removes product buildup, sebum and copper which ensures your client’s hair is free of anything that could cause severe damage during a silk press.
  2. Before blow-drying, Kendra applies Pro Molecular Repair Hair Mask as an easy leave-in that won’t create a film or residue on the hair.

3. Safely Lift Low-Level Hair For Big Transformations

Celebrity colorist Jack Martin (@jackmartincolorist) is known for seamless gray transformations on any level, type or tone of hair. To achieve his natural-looking transformations, he shares the K18 cocktails he uses before any color service,

Jack’s K18 routine before major lightening services:

  1. First, part the entire head into four equal sections. Spray Peptide Prep™ Pro Chelating Hair Complex onto dry hair, 6 to 8 sprays per section, and leave for 4 to 8 minutes. This will remove any mineral and metal buildup that would slow down the lightening process.
  2. Next, use Pro Molecular Repair Hair Mist before applying lightener.
  3. Shampoo as normal but SKIP conditioner. Instead, use Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask on damp hair then style as usual.

4. Transforming Highlights To Long-Lasting Lived-In Color

Lived-in color is all the rage right now, so keeping your client’s previous color from peeking through after a few washes is super important. Color specialist Stevie Meech (@hairbystevie) shares how she extends her client’s color when they want a natural-looking transformation.

Fast prep and shampoo hacks to try now:

  • Before applying 10-minute color, Stevie preps the hair with Pro Molecular Repair Hair Mist. Let the mist set for four minutes before applying color. (This combo will get your rooted clients prepped and processed in about 15 minutes, can you believe it?!)
  • Shampoo using Peptide Prep™ pH Maintenance Shampoo—Stevie notes this shampoo is ideal for color clients because the formula is microbiome-friendly. This means the shampoo preserves the scalp’s microbiome for a gentle cleanse that actually protects color.
