What Causes Hair Loss?
Scientifically speaking, hair loss occurs when there is a disruption in the hair’s natural growth cycle. A variety of things can cause this disruption in the people of all ages, not just your older clients. A few examples are:

- Illness or medication
- Postpartum
- Vitamin D deficiency
- Diet
- Aging
Talking To Your Clients About Hair Loss
It can be awkward and uncomfortable to point out your client’s thinning hair—especially if you don’t have a close relationship—but it doesn’t have to be. When speaking to clients about hair loss, point out how aging brings about changes in the body—including the hair follicles—and there’s nothing to feel ashamed about. No one can opt out of getting older and hair loss is natural for everyone, even if society usually shows middle aged men going through the process.
Note: It’s so important to let clients know immediately when you start seeing signs of hair loss. On average a person can lose about 30 to 40 percent of their hair at once and it’s hard to reverse the process.
