What you need to know:

1. Who is the ideal client for this?

This color is perfect for clients that want a vibrant and versatile shade. “This color is initially a deep ruby but then fades to a natural copper shade,” Danielle explains. “It’s perfect for natural Level 6/7 clients because the grow out is less harsh.”

2. What at-home and in-salon maintenance is required for this look?

Reds tend to fade fast so Danielle recommends her clients use professional shampoo and conditioner at home, switching their regular conditioner for a color-depositing conditioner once a week. Then, she typically brings them in every six to eight weeks for a root retouch and gloss.

3. Does this look come with any specific challenges or is there anyone you would not recommend for this look?

“For my clients that like to wash their hair frequently, red shades aren’t for them as red fades quickly. The key to maintenance for this look is spacing out the retouch appointments to avoid banding. So I have them come in every six to eight weeks for a root retouch and gloss,” Danielle explains.
