On July 17th, Carson Kressley, the frank and fabulous star of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, emceed the 2004 North American Hairstyling Awards (NAHA) presented during a gala event held at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.  Check out the individual images for details.

Winning the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was global style leader, entrepreneur and environmentalist, Horst Rechelbacher, Founder of Aveda.  “I feel truly honored that the industry is recognizing me,” said Horst. “My goal has always been to serve the customer and the planet, and by keeping things in balance, we can all be healthy, happy and beautiful.”

Winn Claybaugh, speaker, educator and co-founder of Masters and Paul Mitchell The School, was named to the Hall of Leaders for 2004.  Claybaugh, co-founder and owner of the Masters audio series and Paul Mitchell the School, has motivated thousands of beauty professionals. Claybaugh received a NAHA Hall of Leaders Award recognizing outstanding contributions to the hair and beauty industry.  “ There are a lot of people around me that work very hard,” said Claybaugh. “I am fortunate because the work that I do is with the next generation of salon professionals…so the influence is magnified!”

In addition, NAHA awards went to top stylists and professionals in eleven categories, including Avant Garde, Contemporary Classic, Haircolor, Makeover, North American Salon Team of the Year and the North American Hairstylist of the Year, the “Academy Award” for styling.
