BTC Exclusive: Inside the Moroccanoil® Styling Bubble at “The Olympics” of Song

Eurovision is unlike anything else in the world. With 37 countries competing live on one stage and millions of global viewers watching, the Eurovision Song Contest is where music, fashion, culture and hair collide. This year, the contest returned to Basel, Switzerland—the birthplace of Eurovision in 1956—with the theme “Where It All Began.”

For the fifth year, Moroccanoil® served as the Presenting Partner of Eurovision, transforming the backstage “Bubble” into a high-powered styling headquarters. Over 30 hairstylists from across the world made up the Global Styling Team, tasked with creating performance-ready looks that celebrate individuality while holding up under the pressure of lights, camera and choreography.

And BTC got exclusive “Moroccanoil Treatment”—from the backstage styling Bubble to the front row of the action—to see firsthand how hairstylists brought the glam to life.

“You need to have a very good spirit before anything. It’s not about us—it’s about making people feel good and confident.”  — Antonio Corral Calero (@antonioccalero), Moroccanoil Global Creative Director & Eurovision Creative Director

A Global Team with One Mission

Led by Antonio, the styling team worked around the clock to bring each artist’s vision to life. “Once a year, we make magic,” Antonio shared. “We give performers the confidence to walk out and forget about how they look—so they can focus on their moment.” That focus on confidence, calm and creativity shaped every moment in the chair. For many performers, their time with a stylist backstage was their only quiet moment before going live.

“You can see the stress melt away when they’re in the chair,” said Kevin Hughes (@hairbyeleven), Moroccanoil Vice President of Artistry. “It’s emotional and intense out there. Our job is to create great hair, yes—but more than that, it’s to help calm them down and make them feel seen.”

The Artists Behind the Artists

The 2025 Global Styling Team featured 34 stylists from over 20 countries, from Australia to Romania to the United States. They brought different techniques, backgrounds and specialties—but what united them was their commitment to teamwork, adaptability and care.

“I traveled all the way from Australia and growing up half-Italian, Eurovision was always a tradition in my family. But to actually be here—fully immersed not just in Eurovision, but also in the Moroccanoil family—has been unforgettable,” said Richi Grisillo (@richi_grisillo), AHA Hairdresser of the Year 2024. “It’s a chance for all of us to connect, to enjoy beauty, to express ourselves as creatives and create beautiful hair,” he added.

It is very fun, energizing [and] busy,” said Norway-based celebrity hairstylist Grethe Sagmoen (@grethesagmoen). “The first week is all of the countries coming in for consultations. [We get their wishlist for the stage.] We do a lot of skin fades, braiding and wet looks, so it’s all about layering the products. It’s everything.”

“The experience is so amazing—it’s like ‘flying.’ The passion that you see in the artists and the stylists is amazing,” said Angelo Fraccica (@fraccicaangelo), who is originally from Italy and now works as a stylist in Germany.

Backstage, stylists relied on Moroccanoil’s top-tier product essentials to make looks last—from Moroccanoil® Treatment to Luminous Hairspray and Mending Infusion and the expansive range of products in the Bubble.

The BTC Team Hits the Bubble

Behindthechair.com brought back two of our UK-based influencer friends and top creators for a second year with Moroccanoil at Eurovision: Suzi Angelina (@hair.by.suzi) and Kasia Fortuna (@kasia_fortuna). “It’s incredible to witness how powerful 30 minutes in the chair can be,” said Suzi. “You’re watching an artist go from overwhelmed to focused and calm. That’s what stylists do—we help people feel like themselves again.”

“What I love most is the learning,” Kasia shared. “I was asking questions even while getting my own hair done. No matter where you are in your career, there’s always more to take in. And this team? They share everything. It’s truly a community.”

Why Eurovision Matters to Hairdressers

Eurovision isn’t just a performance competition—it’s a celebration of identity, expression and artistry. Every costume, every lyric, every moment on stage is part of a visual story. And hair is central to that story. Moroccanoil’s continued partnership with Eurovision is a powerful statement: hairdressers belong in the global spotlight. Not just behind the scenes, but as creative leaders on the world’s biggest stages. And whether you’re working backstage in Basel or behind the chair in your own salon—that kind of artistry, care and collaboration is what makes this industry so powerful.
