Who is an ideal client for a rich rose brunette?

Gareth’s client Yuli prefers a low-maintenance look, as she last visited the salon for a color service a year ago. “She wanted something that could blend into the color she has on her ends—something with dimension that still looks natural,” Gareth explains. “This technique can be done on any client on any texture of hair, it is very consumer and user friendly.”

How do you create dimensional, multi-tonal results?

Elevate your typical global color by creating dimensional results with multiple formulas—here’s how: “I love to spice up a simple global color by alternating multiple shades in panels to create stunning tonal results that add depth and dimension to even the simplest color applications,” Gareth shares.

“You’ll learn quick and effective methods to infuse creativity into your work while keeping it efficient, transforming basic global color into a vibrant masterpiece your clients will love,” he adds. Get his full step-by-step below!

What is the recommended at-home care and salon maintenance for a rose brunette?

“For Yuli’s color maintenance, we would schedule a regrowth touch up and gloss refresh around four to six weeks,” Gareth explains.

“For at home care, we recommend using Moroccanoil Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner and periodically using Moroccanoil Color Depositing Mask Rose Gold to refresh your tone in between visits,” he concludes.

1. Section off a series of triangles according to the head shape.

2. Begin at the nape and release your first triangle. Take a deep, thick weave and tease. Apply Formula A using a board with a foil: Saturate from the mids down while painting the product higher on the external and lower towards the internal of the section.

3. Release the next triangle, divide it in half and take a deep, thick weave as your work up the head, still using Formula A. “Use your client’s facial features to dictate your placement,” Gareth explains.

4. As you reach the face frame: Work diagonally back from hairline using fine weaves while applying Formula A.

5. On the top of the head, alternate from side to side using thick horizontal weaves, leaving out a veil of natural at the parting. Work horizontally towards hairline, diffusing and creating a zigzag effect with your color. Pro Tip: Apply foils close to the root for this application.

6. Process for 25 minutes.

7.  Between the foils, apply Formula B globally to the roots while Formula A processes.

8. Work through the triangles to paint the midlengths and ends while alternating Formula B and Formula C to create tonal depth.

9. Process for up to 25 minutes, for a total processing time of 50 minutes.

10. Rinse global color before highlights; then, remove foils and rinse again.

11. Cleanse with Moroccanoil Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner.
