2 Bob-Cutting Quickies From @domdomhair
We’ll keep this short and to the point—just like our favorite bob haircuts. Here’s how Dominick Serna (@domdomhair), a stylist at Chris McMillan the Salon, creates a graduated and layered bobby.
Graduated Bob Quickie
- Using a razor, cut the perimeter in an upside down U-shape connecting it all around the head.
- When you reach the nape area, pull the hair straight out and connect it to your guide from the previous sections. The over-direction will make it shorter in the back and longer toward the front.
- Rough-dry the hair using a boar bristle brush to detangle any kinks.
- Then, go back through and soften the cut with thinning shears.
- To style a messy undone look, piece it out using your favorite wax spray.

Layered Bob Quickie
- Point-cut the perimeter to give it a jagged edge. Follow your guide all around the head, leaving it longer in the front.
- Over-direct the hair from the ear forward while cutting your guide toward you.
- Then, pulling the hair straight up, cut a horizontal layer with texturizing shears to create a soft finish.
- For an undone look, curl the hair in different directions and shake it out.
