Instead, BTC Founder and Creative Director Mary Rector-Gable is predicting cool-girl cuts made popular by some hottie hairdressers on the west coast—think Buddy Porter, Dominick Serna and Anh Co Tran.

A Midlength Chop + Layers

• What to know: This LA trend is making its way across the country and world thanks to Instagram, talented stylists and a large number of girls who want a cool, fun chop.
• What to try: Follow @buddywporter, @anhcotran and @domdomhair on Instagram, says Mary. All three are consistently creating the same look, and they’re providing really great education on how to do it too.

Lobs

• What to know: The lob trend will stay strong in 2018, but make sure to style the cut super well before posting. We’re seeing big numbers on cute lob cuts that are exceptionally styled.
• What to try: The best way to style a lob is with a 1 ¼-inch barrel curling iron, says Mary. It’s the most popular finished look—clients love it and perfecting it will get you more likes on Insta and more requests at the salon.
