This rooty, foilayaged blonde bob from Amanda Ramirez (@hair_by_mandapanda)! She still gets a cool-toned shade but the lived-in shadow root means she can put off the retouch an extra few weeks. Get the price breakdown below, then keep scrolling for the formulas and detailed how-to steps!

Pricing: “A service like this costs about $325 for my client’s hair length, thickness and texture,” shared Amanda. “For longer, thicker hair, those clients start off paying around $385 to $500 for a service of this degree.”

Maintenance: “It’s extremely high-maintenance with an average 10- to 12-week maintenance,” she added. “Retouches start at $95+ and only consist of a root shade and toner.”

  • Formula B (roots):

    Kenra Professional Kenra Color Demi-Permanent 5N + 6NA + 15-volume developer

FORMULA STEPS

1. Start by painting a heavy partial foilayage using Formula A. Then, process under medium heat and check on her hair every 15 minutes until she reaches a pale yellow. Let cool for 5 minutes.

2. Rinse and shampoo using Schwarzkopf Professional BC COLOR FREEZE Silver Shampoo and let sit for 5 minutes so it neutralizes any remaining warm undertones.

3. Thoroughly rinse out the shampoo, then deep condition with Sebastian Professional Penetraitt Masque and let sit for 3 to 5 minutes.

4. Rinse the masque out, then blow-dry until her hair is about 50 to 70 percent dry. “I do this extra step because the majority of my clients are Latinas with very thick, coarse hair so doing this ensures better saturation, toning and longevity of the toner,” says Amanda.

5. Then, starting in the front quadrants and working from the bottom up, apply Formula B to the roots and Formula C from the midlengths to the ends. Use a wide-tooth comb to ensure the blend between the formulas is seamless.

6. Place a processing cap over your client’s head and process under heat for 20 minutes. Then, let her hair cool for 5 minutes.

7. Rinse, then towel-dry and apply Olaplex No.2 for 10 minutes.

8. Shampoo with Sebastian Professional Penetraitt Shampoo and then deep condition with a mix of Wella Professionals BLONDOR Seal & Care Conditioner and Sebastian Professional Penetraitt Masque. Run a WetBrush® through the hair, then let the mask cocktail sit for 10 minutes.

9. Rinse, then prep the hair with Kenra Professional Platinum® Blow-Dry Spray, RUSK® Deepshine® Oil Protective Oil Treatment and It’s A 10 Miracle Leave-In Potion Plus Keratin.

10. Blow-dry with a round brush, then apply Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper Hairspray so the style holds and apply a pea-sized amount of Sebastian Professional Shine Crafter to tame flyaways. To help maintain the look and feel of her hair until her next appointment, send her home with Olaplex No.3.
