Who is the ideal client for this technique?
This technique can work for any client, but Kelley cautions against using it on anyone with damaged or highly porous ends because the color won’t hold in the hair.
How long does this take in the salon?
“This process generally will take about an 1 1/2 to 2 hours,” says Kelley. She adds, “Reds usually tend to fade quicker, so I recommend sending the client home with a good color safe shampoo.” Schwarzkopf Professional BC Bonacure pH4.5 Color Freeze Sulfate-Free Shampoo is a great choice!
How long can the client go between services?
The client can go at least six to eight weeks between touch up appointments, but they might need to come in sooner if they wash their hair often.

How would you price this service?
“This total look costs around $350,” says Kelley. “My prices are a la carte, so the client was charged for a single process, face-framing balayage and finishing style.”

FORMULA STEPS
1. Pre-lighten the face frame with Formula A. Let process and rinse.
2. Apply Formula B to Level 6 roots and Formula C to tone the rest of the hair. Make sure to leave out the face frame.
3. While Formula B and C are processing, apply Formula D to the face frame.
4. Let process, then rinse, blow-dry and style.
