Painted Purple How-To
Talk about the ultimate transformation! Daniel Marrone of Jonmichael Salon, CA, took his client’s long, grown-out ombré to a beautiful, short, purple bob.
“I always try to get my clients to step out of their comfort zones and have a bit more fun with their hair. My favorite quote is, ‘How will you ever know if you like it if you never try it?’ It works on some clients, but not all. Fortunately, [this client] was very open to try something new.”
To complete the transformation, Daniel changed her look in stages, starting with cutting her hair into a textured bob and creating a dimensional high ombré in a rose gold tone. When the client called back a few weeks later for a more dramatic change, Daniel recommended she use a clarifying shampoo to speed up the fading of her light, warm brown color.
“Keeping in mind that she wanted to be blonde by spring/summer, I talked to her about the perks of having a fun violet/purple color over previously lightened hair. From experience, I know that the hair will eventually fade into very beautiful shades of blonde because of the cool undertones of purple. So purple is what we did!”
