Kate Bosworth Goes “Moore” Red
Julianne Moore wasn’t the only one celebrating her Oscar win for the film Still Alice Sunday night, colorist David Adams and the team at redCHOCOLATE, also had something to celebrate—an amazing haircolor transformation! David was tasked with transforming Kate Bosworth’s pale blonde locks into a “Moore-like” red for the film. “It was an interesting job,” says David, Kate’s go-to colorist, “Because we not only had to make Kate’s red look amazing, we also had to be sure that it looked different enough from Julianne’s red to create a mother/daughter character distinction.”
David notes that he only had to change Kate’s hair for the duration of the shoot, as she was preparing for yet another film. Therefore, David quickly re-transformed her to a new shade of blonde once filming had wrapped.
So what’s his secret to creating a big color change while keeping the hair in great condition? “We work exclusively with Aveda haircolor, which is 96 percent naturally derived,” shares David. “It protects and maintains the integrity of the hair, which is just like a fine fabric. I am incredibly passionate about preserving the health of the hair.” Here’s David’s film-worthy red!
