Being tasked with creating the smallest hairdryer on the market was no easy feat—here’s a look at how Dyson engineers accepted the challenge.
How Supersonic r™’s design benefits busy stylists (and their clients):
The new dryer has been years in the making—since 2017 the brand has surveyed and interviewed 696 stylists to understand their habits, needs and challenges. Here’s what they found:
- Stylists typically see 4-16 clients each day
- Stylists spend an average of 30–60 minutes styling each client
- Stylists adjust their angle/arm up to 30 times during just one styling session
- Strain-related injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome are common across the stylist community
The Dyson Supersonic r™ is exclusively for professional stylists and will be available in March. Visit dyson.com to join the waitlist and find out more information on local availability.
