City Of Hope Recognizes Dr. Farouk Shami As “Spirit of Life” Honoree
In July 2023, Dr. Farouk Shami—chairman and founder of Farouk Systems—will be honored with the “Spirit of Life” award at the City of Hope annual fundraising gala for his dedication to the hairdressing community. Presented by the National Beauty Industry, this prestigious award celebrates Farouk’s many professional and humanitarian accomplishments.
The annual gala raises funds for the City of Hope cancer center.
The City of Hope’s Spirit of Life Celebration brings countless beauty industry professionals together for a night of fundraising. The ultimate goal: To raise funds for the City of Hope, a National Cancer Institute dedicated to helping those suffering from life-threatening diseases.

Dr. Farouk has championed stylists from the very beginning.
As the founder of top brands such as CHI and BioSilk, as well as digital milestones like the LG CHI Color Master Factory, Farouk has laid the foundation for modern haircare and color innovation. And his accomplishments don’t stop there. Over the course of his career, Farouk has generously donated haircare and tools to cities ravished by natural disasters, as well as numerous humanitarian and environmental efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
