Who is the ideal client for this technique?
“This technique is for someone who is looking to add brightness during the colder months. When we tend to get paler, it is nice to add warmth and brightness around the face,” explains AJ.
What maintenance is required for this look?
For fashion shades, AJ recommends that his clients purchase a shampoo or conditioner that has toning properties relevant to the shade you are looking to maintain. “In this case I suggested she purchase Davines ALCHEMIC Shampoo and Conditioner for Copper and Red Hair. It will not be as vibrant but that is why she will be back in my chair in six weeks for her root touch up and glaze,” explains AJ.
Overall, the maintenance for this look is pretty easy. As always it is best to use cool water when caring for color to help with longevity. “There is a chance that when she shampoos her hair some of the red may rinse into the orange, but I think that will make for a fun change. I call it the 2-for-1 because you get two looks for the price of one,” says AJ.
