4 Steps to Manifesting a Prosperous Hair Career—Plus, Tips for Creating a Vision Board

Your dream hair career is right at your fingertips—literally. By implementing intentional goal setting, creating a vision board and embracing the power of manifestation, your dream life is in your hands.

To learn how to envision your goals and make them a reality, read on for the four important steps to master manifestation.

1. Get Organized: Assess these 4 areas of your life before manifesting

Excelling in your hair business starts with leveling up every part of your life. Before you begin manifesting, first decide exactly what you want, then assess where you’re at in all areas of life and then determine how you can improve each one.

Here are the four key areas of your life to assess:

# 1 Business: Nashville-based hairstylist and MY SALON Suite® owner of Sand + Sol Collective, Annique Pierre Louis’s (@annique.hair) hair career is a true testament to manifesting your dream career. Annique moved from Indiana to Tennessee where she would have to start her hair business from scratch. “The first year was about building a foundation for success,” says Annique.

To lay the foundation for your dream business, ask yourself the below questions:

    • What are your end goals?
    • What does your dream work life look like?
    • Where are you working?
    • What does your dream salon space look like?
    • Where do you want to be a year from now? Five years from now?
    • How can you add value to your clients’ lives?
    • Who is your target clientele? What are they like?
    • What does your day-to-day look like with them in your chair?

By asking herself questions similar to the ones above, Annique was able to scale from a small MY SALON Suite to a window suite. Her journey aligns perfectly with the concept of ‘next level,’ a theme resonating with entrepreneurs seeking growth and expansion.

# 2 Financial: Within three years, Annique was able to scale from earning $3,000 annually to an impressive $100,000. Her advice for achieving this kind of growth? Believe in yourself, track your numbers diligently and set realistic financial goals to achieve consistent growth.

To set yourself up for similar financial growth, ask yourself the below questions:

    • What do you want your financial future to look like?
    • What are your financial goals?
    • What do you value most about your financial goals?
    • Are your goals measurable and time-bound?
    • Are they attainable and realistic?
    • What is your current cash inflow vs. outflow?
    • How can you better track your cash flow to attain your goals?

# 3 Personal Life: According to Annique, “Leveling up goes beyond physically moving to larger salon suites,” she shares. Leveling up meant pushing boundaries and niching down both professionally and personally. “I embraced a mindset that urged me to gear up, take risks and elevate my business and skills to the next level.”

To create a personal life that supports your prosperous business, ask yourself these questions to get in alignment:

    • Is your daily routine aligned with your career goals?
    • What does your dream personal life look like as you pursue your goals? As you achieve them?
    • How is your health? What are your health goals?
    • Are you healthy enough to sustain a lifestyle to help you achieve your career goals?
    • What daily healthy habits can you embrace before you start the work day?

# 4 Relationships: It’s no secret that the stress and demands of growing a business can strain your personal relationships if not managed.

Ask yourself the below questions to ensure you have a strong relationship so both aspects thrive:

    • Do you have a positive support system surrounding you?
    • What do your dream relationships look like?
    • What professional boundaries can you put in place to maintain your relationships?
    • How you can achieve your goals and maintain your relationships?
    • What qualities do you want to possess in relationships?
    • What are qualities you want your loved ones to possess?

2. Make a Visual: This is how you create an effective vision board

By now you should have a clear idea of what your goals are in the four key areas. Here’s how to make an effective vision board to begin manifesting those goals:

  1. Gather your supplies. You can choose to make a digital vision board via a creative app (think: Canva) or a physical one using a posterboard, markers, scissors and magazines.
  2. Write your goals down separating them into the four categories: Business, Financial, Personal and Relationships.
  3. Place each category at a different corner of your posterboard or digital page.
  4. Then, start searching for images that symbolize those goals.

After your vision board is complete, place it somewhere where you can see it daily. Want to go a step further? Take a picture of your vision board and set it as your phone lock screen so you can always be reminded to stay in alignment with your goals. Be sure to update and refresh your vision board periodically to reflect evolving goals and aspirations.

3. Put it Into Action: This is how you begin manifesting

Now it’s time to work your plan. This is where you figure out what steps you need to take to make your dreams come true. Here are some examples of steps you can take:

  1. Break those long-term goals down into smaller, manageable goals. Then, decide what you can do daily, weekly, monthly and yearly to achieve those goals.

  2. Choose words to live by and embody daily.  Annique practiced choosing a “word of the year” that proved to be transformative. She started with “growth,” then “level up” and settled on “limitless” to serve as a guiding principle in decision-making and pushing her business forward.

  3. Develop a comprehensive plan. Perhaps the most important part of manifesting is creating a clear plan for each of your goals.
    • If attracting more clients is one of your growth goals, develop a comprehensive marketing plan that includes what your social media and website will look like, planning email blasts, promotions, partnerships with influencers or other local businesses and any initiatives that can expand your reach across all communication channels.
  4. Continue your education. Continue to learn and grow by researching and enrolling in relevant classes, staying up-to-date on industry trends and downloading the MY SALON Suite App to explore even more education opportunities.

4. Daily Habits: Here’s how to remain in alignment with your goals every day

Who do you want to be? Start showing up as them every single day. Continue making time in your daily routine to embody your manifestations.

  • If being more active is a personal goal, make time each day to take that morning walk or workout in.
  • If becoming a solopreneur is a business goal, carve out time in your schedule each day or week to do things like work on your social media, booking website, file an LLC or organize your insurance policies.
  • If saving a fixed amount of money is a financial goal, make sure you’re tracking your expenses daily.
  • If maintaining a positive support system is a relationship goal, set aside time each week to spend with your loved ones.
