If you watched the 2019 Golden Globes (or at least the red carpet like us 😏), you saw structured bob/lob haircuts on some of Hollywood’s favorite celebs. That means the cool-girl cropped trend isn’t going away anytime soon, so get ready to style shorter-haired clients for special occasions—like this soft and wavy style on actress Maya Rudolph by celebrity stylist Chad Wood (@chadwoodhair). We’re sharing all the steps and products you need to recreate the look below!
Start with clean, freshly-washed hair. Prep with Redken Satinwear 04 and Redken Iron Shape 11 to protect against hot tools, then blow-dry the hair smooth and create a little volume at the root using a round brush.
Then, create a clean side part.
Take 1-inch sections at the nape and, working your way up the head, curl the hair away from the face using a ½-inch barrel curling iron. Pull on the hair as it cools to create soft bends.
Apply Redken Triple Dry 15 Dry Texture Finishing Spray on the roots and ends for added texture and movement.
Lightly spray Redken Shine Flash 02 Glistening Mist from roots to ends to add shine, then apply 1 to 2 quarter-sized amounts of Redken Diamond Oil Glow Dry between your hands and smooth down the lengths and ends to achieve a slightly wet look.
Finish with Redken Forceful 23 Hairspray for a strong hold that will last all evening.
