It’s no secret: low-maintenance styles are THE go-to looks for today’s ~cool girls~. So when celeb stylist Mara Roszak (@mararoszak) created a tousled high pony for “Maid” star and actress Margaret Qualley for the 2022 Grammy Awards, we needed details.

“The cute bike short meets classic Chanel inspired me to create a high pony with a slightly ’80s feel. We wanted the pony to have some volume and natural wavy texture, while keeping it classic and swept off the face,” explained Mara of the style.

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Apply Elements Renewing Leave-In Spray from Wella Professionals to damp hair to hydrate and protect during styling.

2

While the hair is still damp, apply styling oil and use a small round brush to smooth the hair dry maintaining natural texture around the face.

3

Once the hair is dry, apply a small amount of Wella Professionals EIMI Root Shoot Precise Root Mousse at the base to create soft volume. Then, use a 1 1/4 curling iron to accentuate the hair’s natural texture with a slight bend.

4

Gather the hair back into a high ponytail just below the crown, leaving out some soft face frame pieces. Use pins to secure the ponytail in place and wrap a small section of hair around the base of the ponytail to hide any pins or elastics.

5

Lightly spray the ponytail with EIMI Ocean Spray Spritz Salt Hairspray and gently scrunch to create a bouncy texture. Then, lock the style into place with EIMI Stay Firm Workable Finishing Hairspray
