Kim Kardashian-West channeled her inner old Hollywood starlet (with a very 2019 twist) on the red carpet at the 2019 Met Gala. Inspired by Italian actress Sophia Loren’s iconic soaking wet look from the 1957 movie “Boy on a Dolphin,” Kim definitely came through dripping in a bejeweled Manfred Thierry Mugler gown and wet-looking strands courtesy of her go-to hairstylist Chris Appleton (@chrisappleton1)! Scroll down to get the deets!

Style Notes: Kim’s dress is Mugler’s first design in 20 years, according to Kim’s Instagram. “Getting out of the Pacific straight to the #MetGala red carpet to shine like the brightest star! Iconic “Wet Look” is #BeyondCouture ! @KimKardashian is a #Muglerized #Camp Art piece,” Mugler wrote on Instagram.

Products Used

Prep the hair using Color Wow Dream Coat to create the base and add shine. Then use the Dyson Supersonic™ Hair Dryer Professional Edition on medium heat and speed with the concentrator attachment to blowdry the product into the hair for a smooth finish.

Attach Glam Seamless Invisi-Clip 1B 16-inch clip-in extensions starting at the nape and going up to the temples.

Next, evenly distribute Color Wow Pop & Lock and Cult Favorite section by section through the hair, and then create an off center part.

Use a comb to create waves by moving the hair back and forth in an s-motion. Clip the crest of each wave to hold in place, while leaving the ends loose. Apply Pop & Lock to the ends for added texture.
