Spiky updos topped last year’s trend charts and celeb stylist Ryan Richman (@ryanrichman) is keeping the look alive with a twist

HOW-TO STEPS

On towel dried hair, prep with Aveda Botanical Repair Strengthening Leave-In Treatment to help prevent breakage and add heat protection.

On the ends, apply Botanical Repair Strengthening Overnight Serum to repair then air and reduce the appearance of split ends.

Creating a center part, blow-dry the hair off the face using a concentrator nozzle with Aveda’s flat Wood Paddle Brush.

Focusing on the root, smooth sections of hair back to slick into a high ponytail using Pure-Formance Grooming Clay for a grip.

Taking small sections of hair, twist them while using the Grooming Clay and pin around the base of the high ponytail. Be sure to leave out the ends for texture, these will be straightened into place as needed.

To finish, lock in the look by spraying Control Force Firm Hold Hairspray
