Model and actress Camila Morrone honored Karl Lagerfeld at The Met Gala this year, draped in black velvet and white lace in a knockout Rodarte gown for the theme; Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. The “Daisy Jones and The Six” star embraced the show’s retro feel with her glam for fashion’s biggest night out.

“The inspiration for me was a take on a 1960s Jane Birkin style,” says her stylist Cervando Maldonado (@cervandohair). “Her look was very Karl Lagerfeld-esque with her hair fresh, young, clean and really beautiful.” Keep scrolling for the how-to steps!

HOW-TO STEPS

1

Prep hair by applying a dime size amount of Moroccanoil® Treatment or Moroccanoil® Treatment Light for finer hair and lighter tones to create the perfect foundation for styling.

2

On damp hair, apply Moroccanoil® Limited Edition Perfect Defense from roots to tips combing through with the Moroccanoil® Ceramic Paddle Brush to distribute evenly and protect the hair before blow-drying to create great texture and shine.

3

Apply Moroccanoil® Root Boost to the crown area and lightly through the fringe to create life and volume. After, use the Moroccanoil® Infrared Hair Dryer for a rough blow-dry. Starting in front of the face, blow-dry the fringe smoothly and pin with flat clips close to the ends to hold in place.

4

Blow-dry the rest of the hair starting from the bottom going toward the top with a medium-sized boar bristle brush. After each section, roll and pin lightly. At the crown, blow-dry hair upward and roll into a medium-sized velcro roller for added volume at the top.

5

Next, let the hair sit for 10 minutes, pull it out and lightly glide the Moroccanoil® Perfectly Polished Titanium Flat Iron through the ends with a low heat setting to take out any bend and create a nice shine.

6

Use a drop of the Moroccanoil® Blow Dry Concentrate, rub in hands and distribute evenly lightly raking through the ends for added shine and hold; combing through with the Moroccanoil® Ceramic Paddle Brush once more.

7

Once done, brush the front of the hair into place to match with the back. Lightly take hair in the back and pull down toward the nape of the crown.

8

To complete the look, add in a few bobby pins and a velvet bow—a Karl Lagerfeld signature. Finish with a light Moroccanoil® Luminous Hairspray Strong to make sure the hair stays effortlessly beautiful throughout the night.
