Building on the momentum of its debut, Black Hair Reimagined remains a contemporary homage to the legacy of Black hair shows—reimagined through a modern lens that fuses editorial beauty, performance, fashion and cultural storytelling. Accompanied by makeup looks by Jamal Scott (@iamjamalscott) and Raisa Flowers (@raisaflowers), fashion stylists Jan-Michael Quammie (@jan.quammie), Ronald Burton III (@ronbreezy), Solange Franklin (@solangefranklin), Edward Bowleg (@edward.bowleg), Matthew Henson (@henson) and Yohana Lebasi (@yohanalebasi) elevated the 30 hair looks with fashion direction that worked in tandem with the elaborate hairpieces. Finishing touches by manicurist Dawn Sterling (@nailglam) further rounded out the creative direction of the show.

This year’s edition was further shaped by partners whose contributions extend beyond beauty and into cultural advocacy. As a co-founder of the CROWN Coalition, beauty brand Dove has been working to “Create a Respectful and Open World for Natural hair” by supporting the passage of the CROWN Act since 2019. The CROWN Act is legislation that prohibits race-based hair discrimination against textured hair and protective styles, including braids, locs, twists and knots. Through this ongoing work, Dove continues to help advance education and cultural change that elevates and celebrates the beauty of Black hair.
Square also teamed up with Black Hair Reimagined to honor the cultural significance and lasting influence of Black hair while championing the livelihoods and creative visions of the stylists, artists and entrepreneurs behind this everyday artistry.
