Not all women are blessed with beautiful, full lashes. But with a trusted, certified NovaLash Extension Artist, your clients can have the longer, fuller lashes they crave. Unlike traditional false eyelashes, which are applied as a single strip and last only a few days, NovaLash Eyelash Extensions are individual, synthetic extensions singularly bonded to each natural lash to create a longer, thicker, more glamorous lash look. And it’s this precision that requires well-trained estheticians and cosmetologists to perform the procedure.

The trick to the perfect set of lashes? Proper separation, says Sophy Merszei, CEO of NovaLash Inc. “Not only does separation ensure that every eyelash gets bonded,” begins Sophy, “the very process of separating serves to fluff up the extensions and make them look prettier.” Here is Sophy’s guide to proper separation from her book, “The Essential Guide to Lash Extension Technology” and NovaLash master trainer and brand ambassador Sophia Navarro.

HOW-TO STEPS

1 Start at the outer corner.
2 As soon as you find a pair of stuck extensions, immediately separate the two. Check each lash.
3 Systematically check the root of every lash, one by one.
4 Move inward toward the nose checking each lash.
5 This extension was stuck to a natural lash.
6 The round of separation is complete when every lash/extension has been separated.
7 To verify that no extensions are stuck to the sticker, gently lift all the lashes/extensions with the straight tweezers.
8 Repeat these separation procedures until you fully separate all extensions/lashes from root to tip. Note how thick and plentiful the extensions are. There are no gaps and there are adequate short (8mm) extensions between all of the longer extensions.
